Astin Trew AT2-2100

The new for 2018 Astin Trew AT2-2100 integrated 90W/8ohm amplifier is a major step forward for Astin Trew.  It replaces the well loved and successful AT2000 amplifier.

Using a hybrid transformer / active pre-amplifier design stage, with a patented class A/B MOSFET power amplifier, it offers both extremely low distortion and high level of musicality at its price point.

The sound quality is almost valve like, the mids and highs are smooth and open, and the bass has real authority as only a well designed solid state design can achieve; the whole offers a beautifully integrated sound-scape usually only available from higher priced amplifiers.

Inside, there is a large transformer and power supply, feeding boards populated with audiophile quality components, all housed in ventilated casework with a distinctive aluminium front fascia design.  It is available in three standard anodised fascia finishes, silver black and red.

The fascia sports an easy to use rotary volume control, with LED display (dimmable), an unusual but useful 'neutral / warm' sound balance switch and 1/4" Jack headphone socket, along with the switching between 6 inputs.

The AT2-2100 amplifier has 5 x RCA inputs and 1 x balanced XLR input; plus 1 x RCA pre-amplifier output and an active combined mono RCA sub-base output, for 2.1 loudspeaker use.  The sturdy loudspeaker connectors will accept banana plugs, spade connectors or bare wires. 

Amplifier comes complete with a remote control, mains cable and Operations Manual.

We say: This is one a very lovely amplifier, musicallity is the keyword here, the beautifully integrated sound offers a real insight into all types of music, and the almost valve like silky smooth mid-range is fantastic for vocals and instrumentals; the sound stage big enough for the largest of orchestras, both authority and subtlety as required. 

One of the very few sub £2K amplifiers around to offer a real taste of high end performance - it does not beat you over the head (!) but rather, draws you into the soul of the music.
